The Moon is in practical Virgo this morning, hopefully lending a little sense of organization and healthy editing to the start of the week.
Jupiter is finishing up its year-long trip through Gemini
We’ve had a lot of emphasis on Jupiter lately, which is finishing up its year-long tour through the sign of Gemini. Jupiter in Gemini is notoriously unstable – testing our ability to stay steady and confident in the face of disappointment. But in just one week the planet of luck, optimism, and expansion is going to move on into generous Cancer, where we can expect a much more steady and supportive vibe. In the meantime, this week Jupiter will be getting some aspects from a couple of our interpersonal planets, so it may be a time when we finish taking in the lessons from this past year.
Venus + Jupiter kick up feelings of instability
First off, we’ll have Venus in Aries, where it is also pretty unstable, making a sextile to our Gemini Jupiter. And while usually these two planets are known as the “benefics,” meaning that they bring good things to us, in this case it’s possible they might unearth some of their more difficult sides – promises that weren’t kept, ways we haven’t been seen or understood, or things we’re angry about.
Venus moves into Taurus and squares Pluto
By Thursday evening, Venus will move on into its exalted sign of Taurus, where it loves to luxuriate in life’s sensual pleasures. But in the first degrees of Taurus it’ll also make a square to Pluto in Aquarius, so we can expect a few shadows to arise as well, particularly around money or body issues.
Mercury meets up with the Lunar Nodes and Jupiter
Mercury, planet of thought and communication, is in Gemini along with the Sun and Jupiter right now – and Mercury rules this airy and information-oriented sign. Toward the end of the week it’ll make a t-square to the Lunar Nodes, just as Jupiter did a couple of weeks ago, at the same time as it makes a sextile to Mars in Leo. The Nodes symbolize our fate, and Mars is the planet of action and anger – so it’s a good time to be on the watch for fiery thoughts or emotions. It’s possible that Mercury could be trying deliver some kind of message or insight that has to do with challenges you’ve faced in the recent past.
Mercury and Jupiter move into generous Cancer
By Sunday, we’ll have Mercury conjoining Jupiter in the very last degree of Gemini – right before they both move on into watery Cancer – Mercury at 2pm Pacific Time on Sunday, and Jupiter at 2pm on Monday. It’s a good time to glance at where Gemini falls in your chart, consider what has felt unstable for you there over the last year, and think about what lessons you might be able to glean from those experiences.
This week’s theme: “dwell in what feels transitory.”
So the theme for this week is “dwell in what feels transitory.” It’s kind of a koan – which is a concept from Buddhism where you meditate on a statement that’s paradoxical. How can we make a home in places that feel impermanent? How can we stick with situations that feel unstable and uncomfortable, or even precarious? Those are great questions to be pondering this week as we integrate our experiences from this past Jupiter cycle.
